Quiescent
(Not That Simple - Dredg, from "Catch Without Arms")
I forgot how much I used to listen to this album. Great stuff. I've always liked Dredg, but I stopped listening to them for a few years. Thanks for showing me this band, Justin.
It may be a bit before I write on here again.
PS: To all veterans who may read this tomorrow, thank you for serving. I am grateful for your sacrifice, and the sacrifice of those who laid down their lives for our country.

Awesome Things: November 09
I'm having to be quick, due to my lack of sleep recently.
1st: The IBM Z series Mainframe...Kind of stupid, I know, but this thing is a beast.

This is what I work on, so I must give it some credit.
2nd: My new hobby: Mountain Biking. Jim got me to buy a mountain bike, thanks to our fitness equipment credit which made my 400+ dollar bike a purchase that rivals a meal at a decent restaurant, cost-wise. Soon I will begin my career as a mountain biker, or my career as a corpse.
My bike:

3rd: Pizza...Sure, it's a college thing, until you're on a team with a bunch of food freaks. Thanks to my team, I've been introduced to tons of different restaurants, but they seem to have a flair for pizza, particularly ones that have 2 ton ovens shipped over from Italy. I'm convinced Jim is a drug dealer who has moved on to pizza, because every time he gets me hooked on one place, he moves me on to the harder stuff almost immediately.
4th: Becoming comfortable with my team. At first, I was hesitant around my team, probably because I am 20 years younger than anyone else on it, but I've grown very comfortable. I relate to them very well, and find the people I work with who are around my age to be annoying suck-ups. I'm really enjoying this aspect of my job, far more than anything else, though I do still love pretty much every aspect of my job.
5th: My record finding skills. I've amassed a small record collection, which has led me to buy them as presents. For Amber, a huge Beatles fan, I have found the following: Yellow Submarine, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and Let It Be, all for around 60 bucks for the group, which I've found is under-priced. I've also found some great ones for myself. I *LOVE* Half Price Books!

I prefer my jazz albums and my Queen album, but keep that quiet!

It's like a square, but better
So much to talk about, but we'll save the majority of it. Instead, I feel like posting music; however, I always do that. So I'll try to make it a bit interesting this time. This has been around for a bit, but it's the first time I've thought of using it.

(Warning: Sometimes they don't load properly. You may have to refresh a few times.)
There's 6 songs. Here's a bit about each in order.
First: Allen Vizzutti, who is probably the greatest trumpet player alive, playing "Over the Rainbow" as an encore in Hungary. Amazing.
Second: "Of Wolf and Man" by Metallica, featuring the late Michael Kamen conducting the San Francisco Symphony. Amber is going to make me go see that New Moon movie. After seeing one of the commercials, this song popped into my head. If only the movie would be as awesome as this song, but it probably won't be. Maybe the woman who wrote Twilight made them stick this song in, like Supermassive Black Hole in the last one. (I can only hope)
Third: "Hiroshima" by Ben Folds. So many songs relate to something in real life, but usually through some veiled meaning, but this song isn't like that. It means exactly what he says. He fell off the stage and got back up to play. When he responds to someone who asks, "What's in your head?" he just shows them his x-rays. Brilliant!
Fourth: This is the 2009 NSU Drumline playing this year's cadence. I went to homecoming and took it. It was after the game, so it isn't perfect, and I'm a bit shaky with the camera. It still has some awesome grooves.
Fifth: Reba McEntire singing "The night the lights went out in Georgia." Much like New Moon, I've been having to listen to country. While the new stuff isn't that great, it reminds me of the brief time between 1st and 3rd grade where country was the cool thing on the radio. My mom loves this song, and that love was passed to me.
Sixth: "You Don't Know Me" by Ben Folds, featuring Regina Spektor. I LOVE this song. This is an unofficial video that I like better than the original. It's just so catchy! The play back and forth is awesome, the instrumentation is damn good, and it's just perfect.
Notes: The cube makes the videos a bit choppy. Also, it took me 3 cubes to get it right. They don't let you delete them....

I'm going to give you a damn good thrashing!
I love Fawlty Towers, don't ask me why. Maybe it's John Cleese. I think it's because I remember watching it with my dad on PBS when I was young. Which reminds me...I get to see him this weekend! I can't wait.

Another rabbit out of the bag of sad diversions
I haven't listened to this song in years, yet it is stuck in my head. No reason, really...Just heard a British accent on the radio and it popped up. Not the best version, but the only non-fan video that is horrible quality. It may not be anyone else's cup of tea (pun...intended), but it's what's in my mind, so it's what's on the blog.
